Kathy
Szarko's work catches the fancy of children
and adults alike because she sees and paints from the imagination. A fellow artist
summed up
the essence of Szarko's art: "Her work embodies what real painting is about. It
doesn't
draw on any known or accepted image but is derived from the Artist's world, psyche,
and emotion.
She allows things that are totally implausible to have happen. Her work embraces the
absurdity
of making images."
Artist
Bio
Kathy enjoyed
a successful
career as an entertainer singing with her famiy's musical act.
She turned her talents
to art and illustration in the early 1980s. Following a stint
as an ad agency art director,
she illustrated teen's literature on a freelance basis. "As
a self taught artist, I
was aggressive and focused, I absorbed books, teaching, and
instruction wherever I found them."
